Hey, I’m Christine Comtois Dolezal
Dance Educator, book enthusiast, lover of Harry Potter & Owner/Chief Creative Officer at Thrive Performing Arts
sparking a revolution inside each of our performers
Thrive Performing Arts all started with a dream, an idea in my head, but it wasn’t all rainbows and tutus.
I was frustrated because I was finding places that…
made beautiful dancers, but often at the cost of physical or mental health
only valued the best dancers and the families that spent the most money
instruction was okay, but didn’t have great communication or customer service
had students that were only focused on themselves because the studio created competition between classmates
But I didn’t want to compromise what I knew to be vitally important to creating not just a good dancer, but a good human.
I wanted a place that could inspire my children to be better than they were the class before… to spark a revolution inside them!
So I got to work creating exactly what I wanted for my kids.
I took my 20 years of dance education, my 5 years of performing in professional companies, and all the early childhood education knowledge I’d gained, and put them together to create a studio where students experienced a revolution in their lives and changed them for the better.
Thrive sparks revolution inside each of our performers with 4 pillars of focus
Community - this looks like a welcoming space for every BODY (no matter size, shape, ability), prioritizing connections in classes, and taking our love of dance and musical theatre into the wider Tri-Cities with performances and colaborations. Plus, parents are part of our community too and we try to make it as stress free as possible on them.
Technique -our class curriculum is created to be physically and developmentally appropriate for each level. That means when they are preschoolers, their ballet class doesn’t look the same as when they are 11, but in both classes, they are learning the foundations needed to get to the next level. We’re aiming for healthy growth over time - not sky rocketing growth that harms children in the long term.
Creativity - dance and musical theatre are art forms and here at Thrive, students learn how to do steps AND how to take those steps to create their own pieces of art. Often times in class, this looks like play, but don’t be fooled! Serious learning is going on WHILE we have fun.
Performing For Joy - I can’t stress enough how much performing can give children confidence, strength, resillience, and the belonging that comes with being a part of something bigger than themselves. It’s truly a joy-filled experience if you let it. But performances can get hijacked by perfection, criticism, and high stakes stress if you’re not careful. Thrive offers many levels of performing - from in class performance to family to competition and everything in between. You get to choose what works best for your family while keeping that joy alive!
You can see that what we don’t have on the list are
making professional ballerinas or tiktok stars
getting all the 1st place trophies at competitions
stressing our performers out with expectations of perfection
I believe at this studio, we have a unique perspective that is the perfect environment for kids and adults to THRIVE.
If you want to spark a revolution in your life, I challenge you to scroll down to find just 1 class to try and see if Thrive can bring more commmunity, skill, creativity and joy in your life!
